I am on a parliamentary visit to Azerbaijan as an Italian observer to monitor the presidential elections. I visited numerous polling stations without detecting any interference or strangeness in the voting process; everything was conducted transparently.
I met a lot of young people, which is positive and in contrast to Italy and Europe, where boys and girls are reluctant to vote. The large turnout of voters and the presence of young people are important signals in a democratic process. In our country, we need to make people rediscover a love of politics, participation and bring them back to vote.
