At the first hearing of the trial, the Conti case immediately took a turn that I talked about with Libero. The alleged victims made a proposal to sue the PM for possible pressure. I was in Panama to assist and follow our compatriot who spent 423 days in prison – before the house arrest obtained thanks to my intervention and that of our Government – forgotten like many others around the world by the left, which is interested in and exploits what happens to these people only when it is useful for political reasons. Parliamentarians must work to ensure a fair trial, get any innocent people freed and, when possible and if allowed by international laws, have our prisoners transferred to Italy where they must continue to serve their full sentences.
