We can no longer turn our heads the other way. The system of postal voting abroad is structurally weak, outdated and, as I have repeatedly denounced, a vehicle for scams that risk altering the will of the people.
In the interview given to Il Tempo, I reiterated the numbers of a scandal that cannot go unpunished:
25 thousand over centenarians and 35 thousand from 90 to 100 years old on the electoral lists (many of whom have been dead for years, but who continue to “vote”).
Up to 1 million potentially manipulable “fake” cards.
EUR 40 million – of public money clearly – spent on a system that does not guarantee safety.
Our battle with the committee “Justice Without Italian Borders in the World for the Yes” is clear: we want real justice reform, but we also want the vote of Italians around the world to be certain, safe, and secure.
The solution? Vote in person at embassies and consulates.
No more cards intercepted by the usual suspects, no more manipulation.
Justice reform concerns us all: those who live in Italy and those, like us, who live abroad but have their heart and interests in their country’s institutions. We will not allow Italy’s future to be decided by phantom ballots.
Voting is a sacred right, let’s defend it.
