A few days ago, on Il Sole 24Ore, the great historical goal we achieved, after 3 years of work, for our community around the world!
In the Chamber of Deputies, we have taken a step of justice and profound recognition towards the millions of Italians who live abroad, but who never forget their roots. My bill was approved at first reading, which, after years of waiting and injustice, guarantees our fellow AIRE members (residents outside the EU) the opportunity to regain access to our National Health Service!
But it is not only a victory in principle, it is also an injection of confidence in our country and an enormous economic benefit for the National Health Service, since thanks to this measure, and the expected annual contribution, we estimate a collection of between three and four billion euros in favor of the State. A figure that will not only cover costs, but will be a fundamental investment in strengthening our structures for all Italians.
We reaffirmed a right and put an end to a distortion that forced many not to enroll in AIRE for fear of losing a fundamental right.
We create transparency and correctness in the relationship between state and citizen, which will also allow minors living outside the European Union to access care free of charge. A gesture of respect towards the new generations of Italians around the world.
