Dear friends,
Wishing “Happy Easter” is not simply an invitation to spend a day of celebration peacefully. For our Catholic community, Easter is a celebration of Christian faith, resurrection and eternal life.
Chocolate eggs, doves and colored eggs are a food tradition that makes children happy and brightens our tables, but it is in being with friends or family, getting together, wishing each other well, thinking about each other even when we are far away, that the real value of a day like this is to be found.
So my thoughts go out to all Italians around the world who, like me, live far from our country, united thousands of kilometers away by faith, affection and traditions, including keeping an olive branch in the house, a symbol of peace. Peace that is lacking to many of our compatriots, who live in areas of the world where serious political crises and war conflicts are the norm, so many people to whom I wish a return to a peaceful everyday life.
HAPPY EASTER to all Italians around the world.
