Today #Italy lifts its head.
For years, a corruption system has turned the issuance of Italian visas into a shameful market. Since yesterday, finally, the officials are sitting before a judge.
Two Farnesina officials in Dhaka and a Bengali businessman will have to answer for selling tickets to Italy in exchange for money, gifts and investments. A business trip worth thousands of euros in sight, built on false assumptions and abuses that have tarnished Italy’s name in the world.
I myself was pulled by this businessman, who tried to “buy silence” about a system that I had instead denounced forcefully. I wasn’t silent then, and I won’t be silent today.
