The Chamber of Deputies approved the decree on the reform of Italian citizenship, a passage defined as historic by the deputy Andrea Di Giuseppe (Fdi), elected in the Central and North American constituency. This reform, among the various measures, marks a significant turning point for many Italians who over the years have lost their citizenship out of necessity or obligation and not out of personal choice. Before 1992, in fact, anyone who became a citizen of another country was forced to renounce their Italian passport.
