Charlie Kirk was only 31 years old.
A Father, A Husband, A Son.
A man who lived for his family and for his Nation. His voice was a symbol of sincere dialogue, his commitment a hope for the future.
Yesterday Charlie was taken from us, brutally murdered defending his ideals. A vile and intolerable gesture. By hitting him they wanted to hit all of us, because what was attacked was not just a man, but the freedom he embodied.
And today, September 11, the anniversary of the day when the heart of American democracy was wounded to death, we feel the weight of this attack even stronger. Yesterday as it was then, the objective is the same: to destroy what keeps us united, our faith in freedom, our strength as a people.
I’m close to his family, his loved ones, and the entire community that loved and followed him. But above all I am close to those who today feel pain turning into anger, and their anger turning into determination.
Charlie didn’t go for nothing. His sacrifice reminds us that democracy is not extinguished with violence, but grows stronger every time someone tries to hit it.
Today we cry, but tomorrow we will be even stronger. For him. For America. For the sake of freedom.
