I’ve been put on a ban list.
The New Italian Communist Party has released a public list of alleged “Zionist agents in Italy”, with names and photographs. On this list there are entrepreneurs, politicians and servants of the State: people who have dedicated their lives to security, legality and the common good. The inclusion in this list, for those who have ended up inside, represents a real and concrete danger, because it feeds hatred and legitimizes violence and because it shows the faces of those who should be protected by anonymity, given the gentleness of his work for our country.
For over twenty years I have been living and working abroad, on three continents, including the Arab world of which, according to these individuals, I would be an “enemy”. I consider myself a citizen of the world: I have found extremists, common-sense people, orthodoxy and openings everywhere. Whoever made this list doesn’t belong to the reasonable part of the world. They are spreaders of hate, who in an already dramatic moment for the Middle East, choose to throw gasoline on the fire, inciting conflict and not dialogue.
I would like to publicly thank the Jewish Community of Rome, my city, for the words of solidarity expressed by President Victor Fadlun, following the interview I released to Il Tempo and which I share here.
I wait now, not without bitterness, a clear condemnation from the parliamentary left. But maybe, as they say, hell will freeze over first
