“The conflict in Ukraine has brought us all back into that great nightmare called war. In this unexpected war scenario, NATO has responded with a firm condemnation of the violation of international law by Moscow and has sent additional military units to the most exposed alliance states”. This was said by Andrea Di Giuseppe, FDI deputy speaking in the Chamber of the Chamber in the general discussion of the bill on urgent provisions for the extension of the participation of military personnel in the strengthening of NATO initiatives.
“Among the main activities, there is a strengthening of the use of special intervention forces and in particular the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF). The Task Force, established at the Newport Summit on 4-5 September 2014, represents a multinational brigade capable of taking action in just 48 hours. In order to foster cooperation between states, it is guided by rotation by the countries of the Alliance and has a total of about 6000 units. The extension that will be obtained thanks to the conversion into law of this decree represents a significant step for the improvement of the military operations of the Alliance”, he concluded.
