Common roots, clear values and friendship between two Nations that build the future together.
Last night I attended the 50th anniversary dinner of The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) , an evening that brought together representatives from the Italian-American institutional, entrepreneurial and cultural world to celebrate half a century of deep ties between Italy and the USA.
Next to me, the Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies Daniela Santanchè the Ministers Italy in US and Luca Ciriani and the Ambassador Giorgio Mulè Marco Peronaci, testifying to how strong and lively the collaboration between our institutions is. And how nice to see waltervilladei again in Washington, a pride for Italy in the world.
It was a pleasure to share this moment with Mike Rulli, President of the Energy Committee of the United States House of Representatives, and with Kevin McCarthy, already Speaker of the same House: two figures representing the hardworking and concrete soul of America, bound forever to values that we Italians recognize as ours.
As President of the Standing Committee for #InternationalTrade of the Foreign Commission, I believe that the task of our institutions is to transform the friendship between peoples into economic cooperation, innovation and shared opportunities.
International relationships are based on mutual respect, but also on the ability to recognize and reward those who generate real value, with work and daily example.
The NIAF50, again this year, celebrated Italian excellence in the United States with coherence, and this approach is meritorious because – as I often say as an entrepreneur – excellence is not born from words, but from results.
That being said, I don’t always agree with some choices, such as giving an award to John Elkann, which represents – in my opinion – everything I would not like to teach my son: a model far from sacrifice, merit and the real culture of doing that made Italy great. in the world.
Excellence, the real one, is made by example, effort and courage.
And these are the values that we have to continue to carry in the dialogue between Italy and USA.
