I had the pleasure today of meeting, in the Chamber of Deputies, H.E. Dr. Majed Al Ansari, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, together with the Ambassador of Qatar to Italy.
A meeting of great value, not formal but substantive, at a time when Qatar is playing an increasingly central role in regional and international diplomatic balances.
It was an opportunity to hear directly, from very high-level interlocutors, how the negotiations are really progressing and what the concrete prospects are for the stability of the area.
But it was also an important comparison on the future of economic relations between Italy and Qatar.
Qatar today represents one of the most dynamic countries in the Gulf: a strategic partner not only on the diplomatic level, but also on the industrial, infrastructural, energy and commercial levels.
This is why I wanted to underline the importance of an increasingly strong presence of Italian companies in Qatar: companies that bring quality, technology, reliability, design, and executive capacity. In a word: the best of Made in Italy.
Parliamentary diplomacy serves when it succeeds: building stable relationships, opening channels, building trust, and transforming political relations into concrete opportunities for our productive system; otherwise, they become encounters with no real meaning for our businesses.
Italy and Qatar still have a lot of space to build together. And meetings like this go exactly in this direction.
