An Italian living abroad never ceases to be Italy.
He takes it with him into the work, the family, the language, the culture, the pride with which he continues to feel part of his Nation.
Precisely for this reason, the state must be able to reach beyond its borders, with simpler, faster services that are closer to the real lives of our fellow citizens around the world.
Today, Italians registered with AIRE are still unable to use the passport issuance service at post offices provided for by the Polis project, as it is reserved for residents or domiciled in authorized Italian municipalities.
It is a limitation that must be overcome.
This is why I am working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so that this opportunity can also be extended to Italians living abroad. It’s a dossier I’m following with determination, because every step that reduces the distance between the state and Italians around the world is a step of justice, modernity, and respect.
If the green light comes, it will be a concrete result: less bureaucracy, more services, more proximity.
Because the passport is not just a document.
It is the symbol of a belonging.
And Italy must be there for all its citizens, wherever they live.
